Unable to contact Carrington
Someone from Carrington contacted me on my phone on 3/6/2021 at 1:53 pm. I was not home, so I tried to return the call around 3:30 pm and could not contact anyone at your number. Why would someone from your company try to call me on a Saturday as you are supposed be closed on Saturdays?
- Inadequate inaccurate information provided
- Poor customer service
Preferred solution: Answer the phone with a live person.
User's recommendation: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CARRINGTON MORTGAGE SERVICES EVER!!!
Refi follow up
My only complaint is that, as one of your customers, no one followed up on your contact regarding doing a refi with you. I was contacted by Ryan, who said he believed you could give a better rate than I was offered by penny mac.
I provided the information he requested on their offer.
I've not heard a word from anyone from Carrington since. You could at least have informed me that you couldn't do better.
Sincerely,
Larry Johnson
Incompetent Refinance Experience
They are fine as long as you pay your mortgage on time and dont ask them to do anything that requires a brain. I have been with them for about 5 years and other than a couple issues with getting them to add extra to my escrow account for property taxes there was nothing. I naively thought I had a great mortgage company and called them right away when I wanted to do a cash out refinance.
As a preface: I have a perfect payment record and a very high credit score. I am employed full time at a major corporation with some longevity there and a good salary. That is why I do not understand why I have been treated like *** by this lender, with the absolute worst customer service I may ever have experienced in my life.
Since this is the pandemic I understood from the outset that the loan process would take longer. That is why I bent over backwards to get them each little piece of paperwork as quickly as I could.
In return, I was promised callbacks three times in a row by a MANAGER after the loan was about 30 days old and each time NOBODY called me back.
I was instructed by two loan processors to go this webpage on my mortgage website called My Loan Detail. In both instances, and several attempts in between this webpage was totally nonexistent. A Carrington CS rep even told me point blank that the new loan wouldnt be visible until it closed. So why am I getting directed to do something on a page that isnt even supposed to exist? No idea.
Finally, they move to close. I scramble to get them more documents and then find out that I am locked out of their OTHER website and due to a careless misspelling I cannot even reset my own password. But yes, the loan was actually closing. The manager and the loan processor assured me that he (the manager) would call me to go over the paperwork before they sent the notary out. He never did go over the paperwork.
When the notary arrived a couple days later I found out why. They had shorted my cash out by over 8 PERCENT. I immediately called said manager who had stated that he would be available that day in case I had questions. Surprise, surprise! I could not EVEN leave a message on his voicemail! I emailed him and sent the notary home. Never heard back all day. Total radio silence.
Checked and rechecked my paperwork for oversights on my part. Nope. None. Even checked my title in case there was a mystery lien sucking money out of my refinance. Nope
I had already started with another lender due to Carringtons repeat demonstrations of incompetence so I will go with them.
Either Carrington is the worst lender in the history of the modern world or they are about to declare bankruptcy. Those are the only logical explanations for my experience. If I had not been able to verify that this was REALLY Carrington Mortgage Services that I was talking to, I would assume that I had been the victim of a scam. It was that bad!
User's recommendation: NEVER use this lender!

Carrington drug my loan out for months after given us 2 loan approval letters and closing documents to proceed to closing only to go to closing and the funds were there. I was given loan approval and the closing documents on 9-14-20 to only be denied, again after months of time, effort, inspections and now lost earnest money that I put down due to being told I was approved twice.
They need to be shut down!
Im getting an attorney to litigate my losses and hope anyone else experiencing issue with them does the same. They couldnt be more unethical and obviously dont care what they put people through!

The Website for Carrington Mortgage does not work properly. Every time you try to log in to your account, you get an HTTP: 500 or 400 error. When you try to log in to an online account and contact customer service on the phone, they are not able to help with the website problem.
- Great mortgage company

Preferred solution: the Website to work, so I can access my account.
Mortgage company did not help me when I really needed them.
I moved out of the home I purchased in 2004 because I could not afford to pay the mortgage due to covid-19 I've been out of work since May 2020 I moved someone in the property September 1 that can pay the mortgage until I get back on my feet .. my mortgage company told me that I wasn't eligible for any covid-19 relief because I moved out of the property .
- You should help as many people as possible right now
- If you help one person you adless
Preferred solution: if they can place these missing payments at the end of my mortgage that would help me tremendously .
User's recommendation: not to apply to this mortgage company for a mortgage !
Loss Department
I had a loss due to tornado damage and had to sig over my insurance check to Carrington. Once damage was completed I had to submit pictures to them as proof the work was done, fist I was told to send pictures to an independent inspector.
I got a call several days later from the inspector telling me my case had been closed, Carrington never bothered to tell me protocol had changed which has caused a delay in getting the inspection completed and money dispursed, when I called Carrington, I was told "Oh you have to send the pictures to us which I did that same day. My inspection has now been completed at 94% but Carrington has not released the 94% for a total of over 20k of the insurance money they are still holding. I've sent several messages and left several messages with no response.
As part of this, my contractor had to sign a lien waiver. My contractor is waiting to be paid and this company is refusing to update me on when I can expect to get a disbursement.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution

Verified ReviewerMy bankruptcy was finalized in 2011. The State of Ohio won't reopen a bankruptcy case.A reaffirmation agreement is also not done in the State of Ohio. All three credit bureaus have not put on my
report that I have a mortgage with Carrington. This has given me a very low credit score.
I am driving a 23 year old vehicle that's on it last legs & I can't get a car loan from anyone. I have 7 letters of credit denials. I just want Carrington Mortgage to report my mortgage payments that I have been paying from 09/2004 until present.

Flood insurance issue
Your company has my home list as a commercial property which it is not. No one in your company who I have spoken with can give me lip but to say write a letter stating you want your company to research my address.
This is so your company can barge me gap flood insurance to make money off me.
Your customer research department also has no direct phone number to contact them. This company should be put out of business the way it handles its customers.
- Company sucks

Preferred solution: Fix my classification of my property and refund any money you charged me.
User's recommendation: Run and find another mortgage company
Sketchy Mortgage buyout
My second mortgage was sold to Carrington. The first contact I recieved from them stated that my loan balance was almost $70,000 more than the $35,000 I borrowed from the original lender.
I asked for a statement, they refused to supply one.
My personal information that was transfered to Carrington from my original lender, was compromised during a data breach after the transfer.
I was also contacted by a company named Ursus on Carrington's behalf stating they "misplaced" my mortgage note..and that I needed to resign a replacement asap.
My stance with Carrington was that I needed to see something in writing from them showing the correct amount that I owed them, to ensure their records were correct, and that I was not in some sort of scam.
Given the above details, any resonable person would be skeptical.
After almost a year...I finally recieved documents, I signed a modified loan so they now have the note that they need and have been current.
I now demand that Carrington take the late payments off of my credit history, because it was their errors in record keeping, lack of security of my personal information and unwillingness to provide me the information to ensure me that everything was legitamate, that has led us to this juncture.
I have done my due dilligence by writing detailed letters, and spending countless hours, being passed from person to person...and not getting anywhere.

Preferred solution: Remove the late payments from my credit history
Do not do buissness with this company
Carrington does not communicate well and makes mistakes that damage their customer's credit report.
Beware Carrington iif your in trouble
They will fry you alive for fees. This place is so morally and ethically challenged I am stunned they have a license.
They submitted false loan information to Hardest Hit Illinois and got our already approved loan from them rejected. They tried to say they did nothing wrong until I finally filed complaints everywhere. This a bad company, they took away our forebearance right before they torched our loan.. Refinance if you can get away from this company.
If in trouble send in your questions to the Qualified Information, they take forever, they may not get back to you the legally required time, if so, your issues in the letter becomes whatever would would favor you most. Ask lots of questions.
