Adding fees to my account
Carrington added more fees to my account with no explanation.
Total incompetence and blame shifting
a year ago my loan was sold to carringtton after my previous mortgage company went out of business.it has been a constant nightmare from day one.my monthly payments change without notifying me with claims that i'm not insured which stalls my payment process. this has happened twice.l have never been without proper coverage.
i have an delinquent water bill with the city which l had established a repayment plan contract which l have been fulfilling without fail and carrington pays my balance and then attempts to charge me an inflated rate and attaches it to my existing monthly payments. this has happened twice.l'm very suspicious of carringtons motives at this point.a mortgage company should expect to have a positve lasting relationship with their customers .something carrinton seems to be absent of.
Complete disaster of a company
My mortgage was sold to Carrington from BOA in September. Since then, I have had to call them every single month about payment posting issues - and I have autodeduct!!!
They make it almost impossible to make extra payments without incurring ridiculous fees (and all fees get listed on your statement as an "overdue charge" even if it is an extra payment). They also do everything possible to post your extra payment to interest or as a prepayment, even when you take the $20 hit to pay over the phone so that you can be sure they know you are making an extra principal payment. These people make their money dealing with low credit scores and distressed loans, and they will treat you like a deadbeat even if you have never missed a mortgage payment in your life.
You also get to listen to their "we are a debt collector and this call can be used against you, blah, blah, blah" message every single time you call to figure out where your payment got posted this month. This company should not be in business and is a perfect example of why consumers should get a say in who services their loan.
- Fees
- Poor customer service
- Incorrect posting of payments

Refused payment
After JP Morgan Chase sent my home loan to Carrington Mortgage I first tried to make a payment they refused saying I was behind and needed all the back payments or nothing everything was caught up but Chase hadn’t told them so everything was messed up and I even asked for help but they didn’t grant my request since then JP Morgan Chase has foreclosed on my home and Carrington still requesting payment of money but says they don’t do payment only full payment or nothing according to HUD rules
Refused Mortgage Payment
On May 30, 2018 i loss my job, so I reached out to my Mortgage Company for assistance. They said they would work with me during this difficult time.
I also reached out to Partnership for Community Action and they were going to assist me in bringing my mortgage current. We contact Carrington Mortgage to let them know the plan to bring my loan current and they agreed to working with Partnership for Community Action. On July 26, 2018 Ms. Thomas from Partnership for Community Action asked me to come into the office because United Way also wanted to assist in bringing my mortgage current.
Again, we contacted Carrington to let them know we had the funds to bring my mortgage current. We spoke with Candace, a very negative person. She said Carrington would not be accepting my payment and my home will be going into foreclosure. On August 1, 2018 Carrington illegally foreclose on my home.
I have requested a reinstatement so that I can stay in my home.
This is TERRIBLE how they said they would work with me and refused my mortgage payment to bring my loan current. God eyes are NOT CLOSED and he see this WRONG DOING!!!!
Miserable experience
Our mortgage was sold to them also. They have been threatening foreclosure every other month by mail but saying we are paid up when talking on the phone.
I just looked at credit report & they are showing STILL we haven’t paid anything since last September but on their website shows current and paid up through June.
Before Carrington, we had decent credit- they have utterly destroyed it by the way they report. My sister is a Mortgage Loan Originator (and is who originated OUR mortgage through Regions when we bought our home over 15 years ago).
EVEN SHEcant figure out how or what these bizarre fees are that they just flippantly apply here and there. The breakdowns do not make any sense- nothing AND I MEAN NOTHING is positive about this “company”

Our mortgage was taken over from Bank of America to Carrington Mortgage. I must say that we did NOT request a change in mortgage service We got the information from Carrington and immediately set up online automatic debits for our monthly payment.
My husband also spoke with a representative at Carrington who ASSURED us that it'd be a simple process. After about a month into the new mortgage service, we started getting calls about our payment being late. We explained that it CANT be late, that we see on our bank statement that it is in fact being debited automatically. We wrote letters, e mails, faxes, phone calls, etc all to no avail.
Now they have turned us into the credit bureau and my husband and I both lost 100 POINTS on our credit score as a result of their mistake.
I would not recommend Carrington to anyone!!! They have ruined our credit as a result of THEIR screw up.
Preferred solution: Mark my account as current and remove alleged late payment from credit reporting agencies ASAP
Unlawful acts
I have a home loan through this company. After a restraining order on a horrible neighbor who cut down trees, tore up fences, stalked and harrassed me and anyone on the property including land surveyor and thousands of dollars in attorney's fees.
I reached.out for the federal mortgage assistance. From July.2017 through December 2017 back and forth Carrington requested papers. I sent priority mail what they wanted, they would respond they had everything they needed, then in a week. I would get letter they wanted something else.
I would send, they would respond, they have everything.I would.get a offer in two weeks. This went on back and foth through December ,2017. In the middle of November I got notice they sold my note to chase. I have never heard from chase , however Carrington then sent a letter I missed my mortgage assistance.
One would have thought they would have wanted me to move forward with work out options and sue the property damaging neighbor. But no they tried to do a.illegal break in lock out with a servicer who damaged the door he left unsecured when he left it had to be nailed shut. I took b pictures of the mess.he left, called county and the servicer advisement of illegal break in and property.damages without foreclosure and.legal notice. I can not believe the illegal shady way this attempt is.
Shaddy illegal acts with unsecured damaging servicer, Carrington Mortgage folks.

Incompetent
I one of those who got sold to Carrington Mortgage. I have never missed a payment or was late on any mortgage payment ,ever.
I wanted to refinance and they advertised that it was a simply and fast process. The loan officer stated that it should take about two weeks. However, it stretched into 5 months with the loan officer telling not to make a mortgage so all the figures would be right for the refinance. At the same time their collection department kept threatening me for followed the loan officers request.
At the grueling end of the process, the collection department sent a letter to the credit agencies even though I did what their loan officer told me. They clearly should not be a mortgage company and Mr. Rose needs to go back to loan sharking where he belongs.
Please sell my mortgage! No other mortgage company can do worse.
Rockstars...despite what previous reviews say
Trey and his boss Rob worked with me from start to finish with the loan application. I had a 525 Credit score, was late 6 months ago before application but had extenuating circumstances.
I had no collection debt, was current on every credit obligation since last late payment, and had to go through manual underwriting. After the times we went back and forth with Underwriting, we were initially approved and had to go through a gauntlet to get what he fought for and was finally approved for our loan. Our service has been astounding and getting approved for a VA loan at $224k home with a 525 avg mortgage FICO, was nothing short of amazing as a first time home buyer. This was emphasized by no lender being willing and able to work with us other than them (Carrington Mortgage).
Trey and his boss believed in us and because of their persistence and our due diligence as a team, we were finally approved and conditions were handled without incident. We are now approaching closing in the next 2 weeks. Any Veteran that thinks he or she cannot get approved because of a LOW FICO score should certainly try reaching out to this guy! #TheVADude!
He rocks and will get ‘ER done!!!! Thank you Trey!
Carrington Mortgage is horrible
Our mortgage is currently with Carrington because it was sold to them from my prior mortgage company. We decided to refinance with them.
It has been a nightmare. They have 4 different people working on our loan but yet none of them communicate with each other. They ask for the same paperwork over and over. Then when it comes time to close some of the documents were missing.
This has held up our refinance by months. We have been trying to refinance since February 2017 and here it is July 2017.
Carrington Mortgage Services Customer Care Review
They are rude uninformed bullies..you get different stories with every person you speak with. They do not assist the homeowner with making arrangements when behind. They should be out of business
- Inadequate inaccurate information provided
- Customer service stinks
- Unwillingness to assist buyers in distress
Horrible - RUN, HIDE, GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN
THERE IS NO ONE ISSUE EVERY TIME I CALL FOR ANY QUESTION/ISSUE/CONCERN I HAVE THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST ME. EACH EMPLOYEE TELLS YOU SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
THEY WONT WORK WITH YOU TO TAKE HALF OR PARTIAL PAYMENTS SUCH AS OTHER MORTGAGE COMPANIES. THEY DO NOT PROPERLY PAY TAXES OR ANY OTHER SERVICES YOU HAD OR HAVE THROUGH YOUR MORTGAGE. STOPPED PAYING MY HOME WARRANTY PROGRAM WITHOUT INFORMING ME OR THE COMPANY OF THE CHANGE. THIS LED TO COMPLICATION AFTER COMPLICATION AND MONEY AND MORE MONEY.
SERIOUSLY THEY SAID THEY WOULD BE OPEN ON THE 23RD FOR ME TO CALL IN WITH A PAYMENT.
I AM UNABLE TO REACH ANYONE THE ANSWERING SERVICE SIMPLY HANGS UP ON YOU. HOW HARD IS IT TO GET A PERSON ON THE PHONE.
They want your home!
I am writing to urge that everyone take a cautious look into the practices of Carrington Mortgage Services prior to doing business with them. I bought my first home in October of 2005 using a VA loan. The loan was held by Bank of America for 10 worry-free years prior their sale of it to Carrington in April of 2015. The only reason I discovered that my loan had been sold was when I attempted to view loan information of BofA's website and discovered that my account no longer existed. I quickly called and was informed of the sale and the rep provided me with a phone number. After setting up my account with Carrington, I continued making the same regular, semi-monthly payments through my bank's bill-pay but to my new mortgage servicer's account. In September, I noticed that my credit score with two agencies dropped a few points. Logging into Carrington's website, I discovered that they had raised my escrow payment starting August the 1st by $130 per month. I never got this communication, which is listed as being mailed out in late May.
Fair enough, I immediately paid the missing $130 and called to speak with a Carrington representative. I was told over the phone that the payment of $130 brought my account to current and that I could sign and mail in forms to start autodraft from my bank account on a semi-monthly basis. However, they require a voided check, which I haven't used in over 6 years and have none. Teaching classes on a regular basis and not having checks, I resolved to continue making payments through my bank's bill pay service, increasing the payments by the new $130 amount.
During the second week of December, I was presented with Certified mail at my doorstep of their intent to foreclose on my home?!? They were asking me for 2 months of payment in their demand letter, to be received no later than 30 days from the date of the letter. I immediately began to research on their site and see that they are holding my payments "In Suspense". Furthermore, their website is over 7 days behind with regards to posted payments. My credit score, which was outstanding prior to Carrington's involvement, has dropped almost 130 points! I investigated refinancing my home to get away from them, but I plan to sell it in 2 months, so lessening my equity would be foolish. This has to be the most disreputable company out there. I now have to deal with a fair credit score when I go to purchase my new home instead of excellent, and have 2 late payments on my credit report. This will probably disqualify me for another VA loan. Stay away!

Carrington Mortgage Services - Loan Review
This is THE WORST company to deal with. Every person, every department and even supervisors give different information. No one knows what is going on, no one can read the information on the computer, they say they will work with you then actions go completely opposite.
Reps have no problem being rude to costumers!
Payments disappear, requested paper work is mysteriously never received, papers they say are sent are never received.
Very frustrating, very bad business and I will be happy to see this company disappear.
I feel badly for anyone who has a loan sold to them.
I tried contacting them directly with my complaint and I was put on hold for over an hour to wait for a manager, I posted on their Facebook page and my comment was deleted and I was blocked.
Doesn't seem like they want to rectify any bad service.
